The 4 Keys of Swimming Pool Maintenance

Swimming pools can seem like a lot of work in terms of maintenance

Swimming pools can seem like a lot of work in terms of maintenance, but it does not have to be incredibly difficult. Swimming pools can be fickle, but only if not properly taken care of. Here are 4 primary categories to keep on top of when swimming pools need to be maintained.

  1. Water: The water is often the first thing people think of when they think of swimming pool maintenance. Chemicals like chlorine are used to keep the water clean and clear, and keeping up with chemicals is not terribly difficult. If it neglected it can be difficult to fix but keeping a pool from getting unclean and unsafe is not too hard.
  2. Walls: The walls of the pool will gather dirt and possibly algae as time passes. Things like chemicals and pool vacuums can help keep the walls clean, but sometimes you need to brush them off yourself. Letting dirt and algae sit on a pool wall for long periods of time can cause the walls to stain or weaken, but keeping up on the cleanliness of walls can help keep them clean and healthy for a long time
  3. Filters: The pumps and filters need to run a lot. Make sure that the pump is always running well and that filters are cleaned following a proper schedule. That way the pump can run smooth and the filters can continue to filter out dirt and things that should not be in the water.
  4. Skimmers: Make sure to clean out skimmers. If a skimmer gets too full it won’t be able to operate, which means more leaves, and such will be floating around the pool. Clean these out as often as they fill up.

While swimming pools can be intimidating to keep up on, they do not have to be. Follow these 4 categories and your pool maintenance will go swimmingly.
