5 Pool Opening Steps to Take to Get Ready for Summer

The nice weather is coming and you’re excited to start pool opening. Below are five easy pool opening steps.

  1. Clean Your Winter Cover – Begin by pumping water off of the cover using a little submersible and your garden hose. This should be started several days before it’s removed. Then use your net to scoop out any debris that remains. Then put water below your cover so that your pool is filled to the proper level. This also will help make it easier to remove it.
  2. Remove Your Cover and Store It – This should be done with another adult. Each grabs a corner at the end and slowly slides it off around five feet at a time. Once your cover’s completely off, rinse it and allow it to dry before you store it.
  3. Start Your Filter – Remove your heavy debris from your pool’s bottom, remove your winter plugs and connect the drain plugs and pipes to your filter and pump. Then, prime the pump and start it.
  4. Add Your Chemicals – Once there’s water steadily flowing into your pool, pour 2 to 3 gallons worth of shock into your pool. Wait half an hour and then add a quart of liquid algaecide. After 48 hours you can vacuum it.
  5. Connect Hardware – Finally, you want to connect things like steps, handrails, diving boards and ladders.

These are five pool opening steps that you should take to get ready for warm weather. Take them and you and your family can enjoy your pool.
