While it is generally illegal and prohibited, concealed carry allows civilians to carry a firearm or weapon on them.
If you state or country allows concealed carry, a permit is often required. Here are a few steps to guide on the process:
- Training
If you don’t already know how to use a firearm, you should get some training. This is the first step in all states except Hawaii, Vermont and Washington to getting this permit.
A hunting license or certificate at the end of Gun safety courses, such as the widely popular NRA Basic Pistol, meet these requirements.
- Live-firing Skills
For added advantage, get as much training as you can in live-firing, especially if you have zero experience, as this requirement varies across different states.
Most states give you a qualification based on your ability to meet shooting score requirements. You may even be required to pass a written exam to get qualified, and issued with a certificate.
- Application for a Concealed Carry License
Thankfully, it is nothing involving. On completion of training and issuance of a certificate, avail yourself at the relevant agency. They will require you to fill out your details in the provided paperwork, provide them with identification documents, and a small fee.
After they have carried out the required checks on you, you should receive your concealed carry permit not long afterwards.
Please note that these requirements vary across states, so be sure to check your state’s regulations for more accurate information.
