Here’s How to Do Drain Cleaning at Home

The only solution to this problem is a good old-fashioned drain cleaning

A slow, clogged drain is a hassle whether it happens in the kitchen, the bathroom, or elsewhere, it’s a headache that you cannot afford to leave to clear on its own.

Besides the hassle and the trouble, it is a portal for all kinds of bacteria and disease-causing organisms to get into your home and make your family sick.

The only solution to this problem is a good old-fashioned drain cleaning. It’s as effective as it is easy to prepare, with the following steps:

  1. Drain the sink or tub

You will have to do this manually, to better access the drain. Using a bucket and a cup, scoop and dump the water; the sink should be almost empty.

  1. Take out the tub or sink stopper

You need to work with an open drain. At this step, be prepared to have to pull out the linkage. It’s time to get into the actual drain cleaning.

  1. DIY Drain cleaner

For this drain cleaning procedure, pour boiling, steaming water in the problematic drain. Next, follow it up with half a cup of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate).

Afterward, pour a half cup of vinegar (mild acid). If you notice bubbling and fizzing, this is the reaction of both vinegar and baking soda. You might need to replace the stopper on the drain so that the reaction gets inside the drain.

After 10 minutes, pour some more boiling, steaming water down the drain.

If this doesn’t work, consider calling your trusted plumber for the job.
