- Electrical Engineering: An electrical engineer works with electricity as the name implies, but they spend more time harnessing electricity to do things. Whether it is drawing or improving electrical systems, they will be working with instruments, equipment, or facilities electrical systems.
- Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical engineers do engineering services with things that move. This often means large systems like engines, machines, or even something as simple as a garage door opening. Someone designed how one piece of equipment will move, and that is the job of mechanical engineers.
- Structural Engineers: Structural engineers will spend their time figuring out how to safely and effectively build structures. The person who decides how a building or structure can be made, using math and planning, is structural engineering.
- Civil Engineer: This one can easily be mixed up with a structural engineer, because they both work in construction. However, their focus lends more towards organizing, overseeing, and maintaining these structures. Someone has to draw the plans for where a building will go and look, in addition to whether it is structurally sound.
