When the cooler weather comes, it’s time to get your air conditioning ready for winter. Below are three things that you should do to help make sure that your unit’s prepared for the colder months and it’s ready to work again next year.
- Turn Off Its Power – This is going to be on your house’s side. Just lift the cover and find its switch. Flip it to off and then close its lid again. This helps you stay safe and stops you from being electrocuted while doing maintenance.
- Clean Your Unit – Use your broom to sweep twigs, leaves and other kinds of debris around and on your unit. Then take a house so that you can wash off any dust, bird droppings and dirt. Let your unit dry. This will help avoid clogs during the winter which can cause trouble when you start it back up in warmer weather.
- Inspect Your Unit – Look for any rust and cracks in its casing, along with irregularities and leaks. Be certain the seals are all tight without any cracks. If you’re finding anything wrong, you want to call someone in to look at it more thoroughly. The time to have this done is now, before the cold weather really sets in.
These are three things you should do when the season for air conditioning is over. This way you have a better chance of having a working unit when the weather is warm again.
