- New: A new home means all of the appliances and utilities are brand new, which will mean your house has lower maintenance costs for a while.
- The Market: Rather than having to play the housing market you will only need to find and purchase an empty property.
Cons:
- Expensive: Custom homes can be very expensive, especially compared to the cost of purchasing a home or building a pre-designed home.
- Landscaping: Most homes start as an empty dirt plot, but plants take many years to mature. Building a new home means the landscaping will not be mature and developed until many years after the home is finished.
- Time: It can take a long time to build a custom home. It would be much faster to purchase a home, and building a home means you will not be able to live in it for a long time. You will need to find somewhere to live while paying to build a different home.
While there are many pros to a custom home, it is important to remember the cost and time that goes into them. If you are planning on living there for a long time it will be worth it, however for some custom homes are not worth it.
